Scope and Content Temporary camps at Millside Wood, Ulston Moor, Scottish Borders These two Roman temporary camps are at Millside Wood, Ulston Moor. Both lie close to the Roman road known as Dere Street. There may have been several phases of occupation on the site. There are no visible remains on the ground. This is an aerial view of the site. Two camps, one overlapping the other, can be seen at the top of the image. The third and largest camp can be seen below it. This larger camp has a ditch running across inside it, suggesting two phases of occupation. The larger camp was identified in 1955. The other two were identified in 1973 and 1977.
