Scope and Content Elevations, block plan, and section of terraced-house in Bon-Accord Street, Aberdeen Bon Accord Street was built in 1891, and is typical of the granite terraced houses created for the middle-classes during Aberdeen's late 19th-century building boom. Houses like this had granite on the outside, but used a lot of wood on the inside. Aberdeen was unique in using granite, not just for public buildings, but also for the homes of the rich and the poor alike. Aberdeen's late 19th-century building boom split the social classes into different areas of the expanding suburbs. The boom peaked in 1899 when 450 homes were completed, and then suffered from a nation-wide building slump. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
