Loch Glashan, paddle or oar

SC 352860

Description Loch Glashan, paddle or oar

Catalogue Number SC 352860

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of DC 36094 PO

Scope and Content Possible paddle or oar from Loch Glashan, Kilmichael Glassary, Mid-Argyll, Argyll and Bute The logboat (otherwise known as a 'dugout' or 'canoe') is a simple and 'primitive' boat, but this does not imply that it is necessarily early, most examples recovered being medieval or later in date. This is part of the possible paddle or oar that was found close to the Loch Glashan logboat and is now held in Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
