Scope and Content Symbol stone known as the Picardy Stone at Myreton Farm, Insch, Aberdeenshire The Picardy Stone stands close to the road on what appears to be its original location. Basic excavation work carried out in 1856 showed that it had been erected on top of a small cairn 1.9 m diameter. A grave was found in front of the stone. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. The three symbols are on the S face, and are a double-disc and Z-rod, a serpent and Z-rod and a mirror. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
