Scope and Content Symbol stone known as the Craw Stane (or Rhynie 1) at Rhynie, Aberdeenshire The Craw Stane stands in a field to the W of the road S of Rhynie. The symbols are carved on the S face. It is one of a number of carved stones found in or around the village. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. The symbols, on the S face, are a salmon and a large, but basic, Pictish Beast. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
