Scope and Content Temporary camps at Pennymuir, Scottish Borders The remains of four temporary Roman Camps are at Pennymuir. It is thought that they were training bases, with the troops staying in tents. The largest camp could have held two legions - about 6000 men. The camps may also represent basic marching camps. This is a view of two of the temporary camps. The largest camp is shown with a later one built into one corner. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
