Scope and Content Glasgow Tolbooth Steeple (around 1760), Glasgow Glasgow Tolbooth Steeple dates from the 17th century and is all that remains of Glasgow's tolbooth which stood on the same site from the 15th century. This is what the 17th-century tolbooth looked like. It was described by English visitors as 'a very fair and high built house..., said to be the fairest in the kingdom'. Even so, it was rebuilt in 1814 after its functions were transferred. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
