Scope and Content Inverkeithing Town-house, Fife Inverkeithing Town-house evolved piece-meal from a much earlier tolbooth. In 1754 the old steeple had to be replaced before it collapsed. Then in 1768 the town council decided to replace the main block, which was also falling down. The burgh bell which used to hang in the belfry was a gift from Captain James Bennet and John Dickson, bailies, and was made by John Burgerhuys in 1667. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
