Scope and Content Reconstruction of Moffat Town-house (also known as 'Green Steeple'), Dumfries and Galloway Moffat Town-house was built in 1772. It probably replaced an older tolbooth on a different site which was designed in 1695. This is what the building may have looked like before the steeple was shortened in the 1960s when the bell was removed. Built 1772 Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
