Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Rhynie 4 from Rhynie Square, Aberdeenshire Rhynie 4 was first reported in 1797 when it was said to stand on the Moor of Rhynie to the S of the village. By 1866 it was built into the wall of a barn, and may have also been used in the former School-house. The stone was lost around 1903. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It had three symbols. there was a Pictish Beast, though only the head survived, a crescent and V-rod and a mirror, both incomplete. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
