Scope and Content View of ground floor vestibule of Town Hall, The Square, Cullen, Moray Cullen was created a royal burgh by King William the Lion between 1189 and 1198. Much of the present town was built following the commissioning of a northew Town by the Seafields of Cullen House in 1811. The Town House was built for the new town in 1822-3. There were additions in 1899-1900, and the whole building was repaired after a fire in 1951. The building is two-storeyed and L-plan, with a curved corner containing the main entrance. This stair leads to the first-floor circular council chamber. The town house was designed by William Robertson, who designed many of the buildings in the new town. The town house was part of a complex which originally contained a council room, assembly room, post office, inn and stables. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
