Scope and Content Shore Street, Ullapool, Highland Ullapool was refounded in 1788 by the British Fisheries Society who allocated plots and erected a pier, warehouses and an inn. Six years later, local herring stocks vanished and the town's economy collapsed. Its economy revived in the mid 19th century. Shore Street overlooks Loch Broom, the fishing ground of the original settlement. Most of its houses date from the 19th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
