Scope and Content This article, extracted from E.R.H.B. (Eastern Regional Hospital Board) Magazine for January 1967, describes the 'Hospital Building Dilemma' within the National Health Service, both at a national and regional level in 1966-1967. A list of building schemes and provisional costs for the Tayside Region for the years after 1970-1971 appears in this article, including a proposed new Angus District Hospital, which was never built. Lack of funding was of major concern in the development of hospital services in Tayside. The Eastern Regional Hospital Board was established in July 1948, following the NHS (Scotland) Act. From headquarters in Dundee, it managed hospital provisions in Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross. SCRAN 'when' data: January 1967 article published 1966 - 1967 context 1970 - 1971 context July 1948 context.
