Scope and Content A ruined tower house on a mound above a pasture and a stream with gravel banks. A miller is said to have starved to death in the dungeon of the tower house after the 1st baronet went away to Edinburgh with the key in his pocket. Spedlin or Spedlins Tower dates from the early 17th century and was the seat of the Jardine family. The family later moved across the river to Jardine Hall, built in 1814.
