Scope and Content A Gothic church with a wide nave, tall square clock tower and a choir stands in an enclosure with a driveway, gardens and houses on either side. Wrought iron gates and a fence on a low stone wall separate the area from the road in the foreground. A monument with profile bust and plaque stands in a round flowerbed in the centre of the drive. Small trees line the fence by the road and lamps stand on top of the stone gateposts. A wooden greenhouse is on the left beside the flat roofed church porch. The nave and tower were added in 1833 to the late 14th century choir with stone slab roof. The monument before the church is to Joanna Baillie (1762-1851), poet and dramatist, who was born in the manse.
