Scope and Content View across a loch towards a wooded shore, with houses and fields at the foot of a craggy mountain. Loch Katrine has supplied fresh water to the city of Glasgow since the mid 19th century. Sir Walter Scott's novel, "Rob Roy", published in 1818, was based on the legendary exploits of a real person - Robert MacGregor (1671-1734) - a famous Scottish outlaw.
