Scope and Content A broad rough grass area before a large building which is part creeper covered on the right facade. The building has a symmetrical left facade with a porch flanked by white wooden balconies above deep verandas. The building has double-decker dormers in the roof. A land mast stands on the terraced lawn before the building. Troon developed in ca.1808 as a port to ship coal to Ireland. With its long sandy beaches Troon was also a popular resort in the 19th century, the decline of industry and the building of golf courses has made tourism the main employer of the town.
