Scope and Content A large open air swimming pool surrounded by seats on stepped terraces is crowded with people watching a water polo match in progress. There is a large diving tower on the right and an Art Deco building at the far end. The terraces are built above changing rooms and bunting is festooned round the ends of the terraces and from a flagpole above the concrete diving tower. There is a roller coaster ride on the right and a large domed building on the left. The pool is 330ft long by 150ft wide with a diving tower of five diving stages from 12ft to 32.75ft; artificial waves 3ft high can be generated. There is space for 6000 spectators and lockers for 1284 bathers. It cost £90,000 to build.
