Scope and Content A high arched stone bridge spanning the wooded banks of a narrow rocky riverbed, with buildings above the embankment. The people on the embankment give an indication of scale. The Dean Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford, is on the Water of Leith and Dean Village below was once a mill village. The bridge was built in 1829-32 when Edinburgh New Town was in development.
