Scope and Content A circular pond with a water spout at the centre of a formal garden, with paths, lawns, box edged beds, topiary, shrubs and trees. There are ornamental trees in small beds surrounding the pool. The sea is glimpsed in the background. Dunrobin is sited on the coast and has been the seat of the Earls, later Dukes, of Sutherland from 1275. It has been subject to various extensions, and was used as a naval hospital in 1915 until damaged by a fire.
