Scope and Content A man stands in a wide flat pasture before a part ruined tower house surviving to roof height. Trees stand behind the tower and a church tower is visible on the skyline. A plain with fields and woods is visible in the distance. The tower has arrow slits in the walls and two small windows with protruding corbelling supporting the wallwalk. There is a low outwork with a door in a round arch built in the angle of the tower. The tower was started in the 14th century on land awarded to Robert Bruce (grandson of King Robert I); in the 15th century the higher tower was added to form the L-shaped plan. James Gillespie Graham (1776-1855) built the parish church in 1815.
