Scope and Content A view from a wide gravel drive bordering the lawns of a substantial baronial style building set on a garden terrace; smaller houses are seen in the background. The old village of Fochabers was demolished by the the 4th Duke of Gordon because of its proximity to Gordon Castle. A replacement village, laid out by John Baxter, was built by the Duke. The famous preservers, Baxters of Speyside, has its processing and canning plants and a visitor centre at Fochabers.
