Scope and Content A coastal path leading to twin pools, one for boating and one for bathing, with an Art Deco pavilion to the right. Several holidaymakers are making their way towards the pool and up the cliffside. Tarlair lido complex opened in the summer of 1931. Tarlair pavilion is a grade A listed building. It has been disused since 1995. In recent times, a local group 'Friends of Tarlair' has formed to fundraise and support efforts to reopen the pool as part of an ongoing restoration project. The overall aim along with Aberdeenshire Council is to restore and reopen the whole Tarlair complex to some of its former glory. Open air swimming pools or lidos were once very popular. These were often filled with sea water. The only open-air swimming pools, or lidos, currently operational in Scotland are in Gourock and Stonehaven.
