The Five Sisters is a striking range of mountains that rise up above Glen Sheil on the Kintail Estate. Highlanders and Spaniards were garrisoned at Eilean Donan Castle in 1719 when the fugitive Jacobite Earl of Seaforth sailed from Spain to rekindle the rebellion. In the ensuing battle Seaforth was wounded and the castle destroyed by Hanoverian troops. The Castle was reconstructed in the 20th Century.
