Scope and Content A panoramic view of a country town set in a partially wooded glen, with rolling hills beyond and snow-covered mountain peaks on the horizon. The town is set on the banks of a winding river with some houses on the edge of the forest. Grantown was a planned town started in 1766; it has since developed as a holiday resort. The River Spey is the second longest in Scotland and noted for its salmon and the whisky distilleries along its banks.
