Scope and Content A panoramic view of substantial college buildings with pinnacled towers, side wings and a drum tower. The buildings are set on a terrace above a river bordered by mixed woodland. Glasgow University was founded in 1450 without any buildings, all meetings being held in the crypt of the cathedral. The main buildings were built in the 17th century in Jacobean style and replaced in the mid to late 19th century.
