Scope and Content A view over a city river, with many pedestrians, horse drawn vehicles and open top omnibuses on the road bridge. A rail bridge is seen to the left of the road bridge. A cargo vessel is tied up at a quay between the bridges. Now Glasgow Bridge, previously Jamaica Bridge and Broomielaw Bridge. The original Broomielaw Bridge (1768) was deemed inadequate for the city's needs and replaced by one of Telford's design in 1833, which later proved insufficient and rebuilt 1894-1899.
