Scope and Content Two children posed below an immense tree growing beside a path in a town park, with the statue of a man on a low stepped plinth in the background. Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) was a Scottish industrialist and philanthropist who made his fortune in the United States of America.. Pittencrieff Glen was gifted to "the toiling masses" of Dunfermline by Andrew Carnegie in 1903 as a public park. He had been born in the town and the family house can be visited; it has a Jacquard handloom of the type his weaver father would have used.
