Scope and Content A cottage interior with a curtained bed recess, a dresser with china and a plate rack, tables and chairs and a grandfather clock. There is a row of jugs above the cupboard and a teapot and candlesticks above the small window. The two-room cottage is the birthplace of the Scottish lyric poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796). It was built by his father in the mid 18th century and was used as an alehouse in the 19th century but has since been restored and is now a museum.
