Scope and Content A Scottish baronial style building, with turrets, crests, a clock tower and a classical portico. Two men are leaning against the wrought iron railings, another man is walking by. There is a weather vane on the clock tower. Methil is an important town in the mining district of Fife. The 19th century saw a period of new building in the town. The fine harbour was created a port in 1892, having been much altered to accommodate the shipping of coal.
