Scope and Content A turreted mansion house on a rock outcrop at the edge of a deep ravine overlooking a river flowing through wooded banks. Craighall is a mansion of the Craighall Rattrays. The original fortified house was altered in the 19th century. The house stands on a steep crag overlooking the River Ericht. Sir Walter Scott visited the house, which is one of several said to be the prototype or original for 'Tully-Veolan' in "Waverley", published 1814.
