Scope and Content A narrow arched room with varied weaponry on display, a memorial plaque above the stone archway and stained glass panels in the far door. Weapons in view include muskets and rifles amongst the firearms, swords and scimitars and various kinds of knives. The roof is decorated with corbels in the form of grotesque figures. Abbotsford is a mock baronial mansion built by the novelist Sir Walter Scott, whose profile is seen on the decorative plaque. The house is now a museum to the writer. The armoury has amongst its treasures Rob Roy's sword and Claverhouse's pistol.
