Scope and Content A classical style building with an ornate bell and clock turret, and an ornamental fountain in the foreground. There are horse-drawn vehicles on the road. The "Gordon Arms" hotel is seen on the adjacent corner. The Town Hall was built in 1863. Inverurie was taken by the Jacobites in 1745 under Lord Gordon. The town later became an important market place as a terminus of the Aberdeen Canal (built at the end of the 18th century) until the emergence of the railway.
