Scope and Content A large turreted Scottish baronial house is set on a low terrace in broad open parkland. Wooded hills cover the horizon. The house is symmetrical with a projecting porch and turrets at each corner. In the park are specimen trees and a driveway curves round to pass in front of the house. Near the house a 400m length of the Antonine Wall (ca 139 AD) survives. Callendar House incorporates a 14th century tower house with many extensions; in the 1870s it was modelled into the large chateau-like house of today.
