Scope and Content A substantial symmetrical stone bow-windowed mansion house on a garden terrace, is viewed from the wooded parkland, with a specimen tree and large shrubs on the lawn before the house. The terrace is revetted by a stone wall and there is a substantial wing to the house on the left. There is a wooden protective fence around one of the trees in the park. Smeaton House held relics of Mary Queen of Scots, including an autograph letter and an altar cloth embroidered by her.
