Scope and Content A close view of a drinking fountain surmounted by a statue of a ram standing on a rock plinth and flanked by standard lamps, erected in the middle of a wide tree-lined road. The lamps have gas mantles. The fountain was erected in 1875 by Mr Colvin of Craiglands, the bronze ram was designed by William Brodie, RSA and the pedestal is red sandstone. The ram symbolises Moffat's importance as a sheep farming district.
