Scope and Content A rectangular ruined castle stands on a low mound amid trees and undergrowth. Shrubs and weeds grow out of the wall tops and at its base. The castle has two narrow Gothic arch doorways at ground level and many windows in the walls higher up. The heads of the walls have corbels which would have supported the wall walk as it protruded over the walls. Tulliallan Castle, although it has a drawbridge, was not designed as a defensive castle but as a Scottish hall house. It was built in the 14th century and once owned by the Blackadder family.
