Scope and Content A cobbled street lined with stone built cottages and houses, the one in the left foreground having a corner stair tower. There is an advertisement on the side wall featuring a kilted highlander, a face carved on the corbel, and a niche below. Once the Glovers' Hall, the house gained fame as the residence of Catherine Glover in Walter Scott's "The Fair Maid of Perth", published 1828. The niche at the corner of the building originally held a statue of the patron saint of glovers, St Bartholomew.
