Scope and Content A statue of a man in a frock coat, flanked by trees and ornamental stone work and a street lamp. In the shadows a young boy hangs on tiptoe from the wrought iron gates. A chimney stack and town buildings are glimpsed on the skyline. This is only one of many commemorative statues to the Scottish lyric poet and songwriter, Robert Burns (1759-1796).
