Scope and Content A passenger steamer is moored at the pier beside a ruined tower house on a spit of land at the water's edge of a sea loch. Houses crowd along the shore of a small bay beyond the castle. Hills in the distance form the shores of the loch. A woman and child are launching a boat, with a boy sitting at the stern, out into the near small bay. Many other rowing boats are in the bay or drawn up on the beach. The three storey tower house dates from the 15th century and was used by King James IV when hunting wild boar. The castle later came into Campbell possession and was fired in 1685 after Argyll's Rising and never restored.
