Scope and Content A substantial castle with castellated towers and climbing plants on the walls, set on a landscaped terrace in wooded parkland. A narrow lane runs through the parkland towards the terrace. A 17th and 18th century castle, sited on the Carron Water, near Stonehaven, Fetteresso was at one time the seat of the great Earls Marischal of Scotland. It was extended and partly restored in 1830.
