Scope and Content The shell of a substantial building sited on a wooded hill top overlooking the town below. Shell of substantial building on wooded hill top overlooking the town below. Building of Oban Hydro began in 1881; it was to have a golf course, a garden, conservatory, concert hall and sea-water baths but was left half finished in 1882. A later attempt to complete it also failed. The houses are made of stone taken from the shell.
