Scope and Content A substantial building beside a golf links course, with motor cars parked on the forecourt and a lorry on the driveway; a wide bay and hill range beyond. The building is of classical style, with columns supporting the portico. There is fencing or netting on the shoreline at centre right. The Society of St Andrews Golfers was formed in 1754, but the game and connection with St Andrews are much older. The Clubhouse was built in 1854 to a design by George Rae, and has had several extensions since then.
