Scope and Content A turreted house standing above a formal sunken garden with a sundial as central focus, surrounded by flowerbeds in the lawns. Paths divide up the lawns and lead to steps rising up the grassed terrace slopes. The house is built in the Scottish Baronial style with corner turrets having conical roofs, and dormer windows and battlements on the main high tower. Bay windows at ground level. Built in the 17th century gardens of Castle Kennedy in 1867 by the Earls of Stair.
