Scope and Content Italianate buildings with upper walls hung with tiles, square corner towers, one with a clock and colonnaded front, facing a cobbled wharf with row of large iron bollards. Gangplank on right. Crowds on quay beside line of three paddle steamers tied up. Passengers sitting on upper deck of first steamer and boarding middle steamer via gangplank. Steamer getting up steam in foreground and a further passenger ship leaving port in background. The buildings date from 1894.
