Scope and Content Dressed stone bridge over river crossed by wide road with trams, horse drawn carts, and people walking along on broad pavements. Horse drawn delivery carts on cobbled surfaces either side of tram rails. The original Broomielaw Bridge (1768) was deemed inadequate for the city's needs and replaced by one of Telford's design in 1833, which was in turn deemed insufficient and in need of repair and rebuilt on the same lines in 1895.
