Scope and Content Single storey, rustic stone building with a large balcony and an astronomical dome on top, set on a parkland hill. Sited on a hilltop in Balgay Park, the observatory is open to the public. The dome is made of papier-mache. The observatory has a ten inch refracting telescope, and is also used as a planetarium and for various related displays.
