Scope and Content West Loch Tarbert in Argyll is a long and narrow sea loch on the western side of the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland. The village of Tarbert sits at its head, and a narrow strip of land separates it from East Loch Tarbert. Most car, freight and passenger traffic to and from Islay goes by ferry using the route from Kennacraig on West Loch Tarbert to Port Ellen or Port Askaig. Kennacraig is located 6 km south of the fishing village of Tarbert on the Kintyre Peninsula
