Scope and Content Leanach Cottage in the middle of Culloden Moor has a turfed/thatched roof. Tradition has it that after the battle, thirty Jacobites took refuge in one of its outbuildings. They were discovered by Government troops who locked them in and set fire to the building, burning them alive. The cottage was inhabited until 1912. It has been restored, with some alterations, and stands next to the Visitor Centre at Culloden Battlefield.
