Scope and Content Sluggan Bridge over the River Dulnain was one of the many bridges built by General Wade after the Jacobite Rebellion at the behest of the government. Various bridges and roads were built to facilitate troop movements in Scotland, and to lessen the advantage that rebellious Jacobites had had over Government forces. The bridge is a replacement of the original which was destroyed by the 1829 'Muckle Flood' in the north-east of Scotland - only a few years after it was first built. It has been renovated as a cycle path.
